Bobcats "The Prowl" Newsletter

Hi everyone and welcome to the April edition of "The Prowl" newsletter. It's been a while since the last edition as we have been incredibly busy. This month’s edition is jam packed full of our new programs and updates, so we have something for everyone as usual.

In this edition of our newsletter we cover;
  • Registrations for Frankston, Casey and Southern Peninsula
  • What new for Bobcats in 2017
  • School Basketball Clinic
  • Bobcats Team Sponsorship
Registrations for Frankston, Casey and Southern Peninsula NOW CLOSED.

A BIG welcome to our new teams and members that have recently joined us at Frankston, Casey, Chelsea and Southern Peninsula.
We welcome you to the Bobcats and hope this is the start of an enjoyable basketball experience.

This month we also thank Gina Ross-Borg for all of her help and assistance with our teams that play at Casey on a Saturday.
At the end of this season Gina, and her family decided it was time to move on from Casey Basketball.
With her children Mitchell and Hayley now playing at other associations and Gina embarking on a her new Nursing career, Bobcats and the Stirling Boltz just couldn't fit into her hectic schedule.

So from all of us at Bobcats we thank you for all your help and assistance and wish you well for the future.

Whats new in 2017 for Bobcats?

Well where do we start, in January 2017 we welcomed Kiley McCullagh and Caleb Eagles to the team. Kiley became the Bobcats new full-time administrator looking after all of our team’s registration, training venues, uniforms and assist with the coaching appointment.

Caleb has started and taken on our first ever traineeship, through the AFL ready program, where Caleb will complete his Certificate 3 in Sports Administration, and also become our Program Trainee.

With our new staff arrivals joining us this year, we have been able to get our Dr Dish shooting machine out and about for our members. We have also had our first shooting clinics with Natalie Porter. Look out for more of these during term 2.

During the summer months our Bobcats All Star teams have been busy playing in tournaments and practising hard. This program has been well received by other associations and clubs, with many people complementing Bobcats on taking the initiative to help develop our players for the future.
A couple of our Bobcats teams have already tasted some success, with the U/14's and U/12's playing off in finals at the Southern Peninsula tournament.

Hopefully by now everyone has seen our new You Tube Bobcats TV programs. With Caleb coming on board and being part of the younger generation, we felt that this would be a great way to communicate with our every growing younger audience. If you haven't seen it yet check it out, subscribe to it, like it. It's a good laugh and a bit of fun. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtwa5HmS_UV14WG16NhTfdA

At the end of term 3 this year Bobcats will be rolling out our NEW Bobcats Netball teams, these teams will be looking to play at Casey, Frankston and Mornington. Once we have got these teams up and running Bobcats will then be looking at other sporting codes like indoor soccer, making us a true Sporting Club, and not just a basketball club. (Hopefully then we will be able to build a stadium to house all of our sporting programs.)

Keep an eye out this term for our new Shooting program with our Dr Dish, all teams that are training this term at Monash will have access at training to use this. Bobcats staff members will be available to assist coaches on how to use the shooting machine, but also how to get our players to improve their shooting performance and technique.

Bobcats School clinics

During Term 1 Bobcats (Caleb) has been busy attending school's and proving basketball clinic for everyone to enjoy. In term 2 we will be attending Osbourne Primary School in Mornington, and Sommerville Primary school in Sommervile. If you would like to have Caleb and the Bobcat team attend you school for please let us know as these clinics are FREE and come with no obligation, other than to have some fun.
