Bobcats All-Stars Program – NOW open at Frankston and also Officer / Pakenham
Peninsula Bobcats Basketball Club are pleased to officially announce season 2 of our All-Stars Program. Now starting in term 4 2017, and running through to the end of term 2 in 2018. Bobcats All Stars is open to all Bobcats members that want to continue to develop their skills and their basketball journey. You can now train in Frankston or Officer / Pakenham.
Bobcats All-Stars Academy is like a junior rep program, with Try outs to be held for team selection. You get to compete against the other association and junior rep kids, at a number of tournaments throughout the year, but also get high intensity training for each session attending. This training is based upon individual skill development, and team concepts which will include inter-team games. We will also be organising scrimmages and practice games against our own Bobcats Allstars in the lead up to tournaments to allow players to get a few extra games and for teams to gel prior to tournaments.
So how does this work, and what is on offer?
Bobcats in season 2 are looking to have a U/12’s & U/14’s, along with U/16’s & U/18’s, for both boys and girls. Both boys and girls will be trained together in squads for the following age groups 12/14 & 16/18’s. Training times and venues are listed below for each area, age group and gender.
As our program is open to all Bobcats members only (including for the first time our VJBL representative player’s), the commitment by each player and parent is term by term to allow our members that play other sports the opportunity to continue to do so, without having to choose at such are a young age. They can always come back when they are finished.
Our program and coaches will be as follows.

Each week our coaches will be looking at individual skill development, and team concepts to ensure that each player are able to transfer their new skills into all of their existing teams that they play in. So as you can see we will be continually challenging and monitoring our player’s individual performance and also coaching and teaching team development.

Each squad will only play 2 tournaments which ones will be dependant on coaches selection and availability. Should a player not be available and therefore no team be able to be selected no refund of tournaments will fee’s will be provided. Players from our Frankston and Pakenham squads can play together to make stronger teams if required.
Inter-team games will be played during training time which will replace tournaments during term 1, these games will be fully timed with shot clocks and referees. Bobcats coaches will schedule these games during training times and will be used to help with game situation learnings. Team Challenges will be shooting competitions, along with 2 on 2, & 3 on 3 competitions.
Bobcat All Star Uniform’s will be provided at each tournament and returned at the following training session. These will be unavailable to be purchased.
Coaches- Bobcat’s coaches will be selected to coach and represent our program in 2017/18. In the past this has been one of our biggest frustrations, so our program will be coached by our own internal coaches – Brett McKean, Darren Mahony-Walsh and Head coach Natalie Porter. During this period we will have special guest coaches which will take specialised training sessions. Also NEW to our Allstars program will be the opportunity for our Bobcars coaches to step up and be on court and coach in a tournament capacity. We will be using our internal coaches to coach teams and as a new initiative we will be looking to work with coaches from Bobcats to develop and grow our program from within.
Our coaches will take all of the training sessions and also coach at all of our tournaments. This way we will keep our professional approach, and our coaches will all be able to teach our players the same things.
